What is xeriscaping?

Xeriscaping is landscaping in a way where the plants do not require supplemental irrigation. It is done in areas that do not have easily accesiblelity supplies of fresh water or dry areas such as Kamloops.

The best form of xeriscaped yards is one that is the most natural form of the area. Going up into Batchellor Heights gives a good indication of what is naturally found around here. Keeping with these types of plants will allow the users of the yards not to water or even really have to touch their yard. So in Kamloops, tall grasses, cacti, and wildflowers would be the best thing to use to create a yard that is virtually maintenance free. Maybe not what you would want kids running around, but its still a yard filled with wildlife.

Maybe do a survey to a few neighbourhoods and find out who would be interested in a xeriscaped yard.
